Jewish Senior Life is more than just a place to live; it’s a vibrant community of six beautiful residences across two dynamic locations in southeast Michigan. As a mission-driven, non-profit organization, JSL prioritizes the well-being of its residents and program participants, not shareholders. Here, friendships are built, passions are pursued, and residents thrive by staying active in mind, body, and spirit. JSL fosters spiritual, social, and cultural values while embracing inclusivity through engaging programs and services rooted in Jewish tradition. We welcome individuals of all backgrounds, regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, familial status, or marital status, ensuring everyone feels valued and connected in our supportive environment.
JSL is a place where meaningful connections are made and communities thrive. Many of our staff and residents have been part of the JSL family for decades, reflecting the compassion, respect, and care that define us. Whether you or a loved one seek independent living, assisted living, or memory care, you’ll find a welcoming home supported by donors, partners, and volunteers. We’re also proud to partner with Gesher Human Services to provide the Dorothy and Peter Brown Adult Day Program, an innovative daily program for individuals with dementia. From delicious kosher meals and enriching programs to health and wellness activities, JSL offers an environment where older adults can embrace life with joy and purpose. Our dedicated team ensures you feel safe, cared for, and celebrated.
For over 115+ years, our Jewish community has upheld a sacred commitment to care for our Mothers and Fathers as they age. To continue this tradition of providing older adults with the resources, support, and assistance they deserve, we need your help. There are all kinds of ways to get involved—make a donation, attend a fundraising event, or volunteer your time. Your generosity ensures that we can honor our responsibility, uphold our tradition, and embrace the privilege of caring for our elders. Join us in fulfilling this important promise today.

We hold ourselves accountable to those we serve, our donors, and each other while advocating for dignity, choice, and independence for older adults.
Jewish Senior Life (JSL) of Metropolitan Detroit traces its origins to 1907, when the Anshe Chesed Shel Emeth Society established the "Jewish Old Folks Home" to support elderly Jewish immigrants. Over the decades, JSL expanded its services and facilities, including creating the Jewish Home for the Aged and the Jewish Federation Apartments. In 2009, a merger between Jewish Home and Aging Services and Jewish Apartments and Services formed JSL, uniting their missions to provide comprehensive care for older adults. Today, JSL operates multiple residences across two campuses, offering independent living, assisted living, and memory care, all while honoring Jewish traditions and embracing individuals of all backgrounds.
Jewish Senior Life provides equal housing opportunities to all persons regardless of race, color, religion, sex, disablility (handicap), familial status, without regard to actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital status, national origin, or source of income.
