I have been an administrator in senior communities for the past 30 years. During my career, I served as Director of Education for the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Michigan Chapter and lectured at conferences and universities. My passion for older adults began at the young age of 16 and that love for older adults continues to this day. My team and I take great pride in providing a warm and caring home-like environment for our residents.
After teaching Special Education in inner-city Baltimore and San Diego, I returned home to Michigan to raise my children before joining the JSL team in 2012. My position as Assistant Administrator is rewarding and gratifying. The highlight of my day is meeting with residents and learning about them. I love the family atmosphere at Meer and feel privileged to be a part of their home.
I received a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Central Michigan University. It was while I was working as the Director of Social Work in a skilled nursing facility that I realized how much I loved working with older adults. My work experience also includes hospice care, home care and community mental health. I volunteered as a support group facilitator and speaker’s bureau member for the Alzheimer’s Association. I joined the JSL family in 2015.
I joined Jewish Senior Life in 2014 as the Food Service Manager for Hechtman, transferring to Prentis/Teitel in 2015 and then Meer in 2019. I have been in Dining Management for more than 30 Years. Growing up on a farm in Hillsdale County, I learned firsthand how using fresh ingredients and having great people to share your day with enhances the dining experience to another level. I feel so honored to be working at Jewish Senior Life and take a lot of pride in delivering great food and training our team to enhance the overall residents’ meals. Resident satisfaction is my top priority.
I’ve spent over 44 years in and around the food service business, including Bloomfield Charlie’s in the 1970’s, Palace of Auburn Hills, and Jewel Kosher Catering. I am happy to start my next chapter here with Jewish Senior Life, and look forward to many delicious years here at Meer.
For the past 30 years I did maintenance at various senior communities. I began working at the Prentis Apartments and was then promoted to Building Supervisor at Meer. In addition to maintaining a clean and well-run building, I also run a weekly men’s group. The Men’s Club enjoys doing woodworking, gardening and other special projects. They take great pride in their accomplishments.
