Close to 100 residents gathered at Meer Apartments this week to celebrate the one-year anniversary of JSL’s award-winning Live and Learn Program. The program offers college-level courses taught by Oakland University professors along with other subject matter experts to the Meer community. A sampling of courses offered over the past 12 months include Artificial Intelligence, Opera, Latin America, Modern Ethics, News & Misinformation, Democracy in America, Film and much more. Beyond creating opportunities for lifelong learning, survey results showed that Live and Learn participants feel a greater sense of community and report having established 2-3 new friendships.

The new Summer Semester features author talks, a six-week course on Understanding Beethoven Through the Prism of His Symphonies, a Short Story Seminar, a Jewish Detroit bus trip in conjunction with the Jewish Historical Society of Michigan, and more.
