Summer Short Term Rentals in Michigan
It’s a common practice for Michiganders, and others from chilly northern states, to head south for the winter. They can enjoy the more mild weather found in Florida or Arizona during the colder months. We refer to these migrating people as “snow birds”. However, summer in the southern states can be too hot for many people! A Michigan summer is the perfect escape from the heat and humidity. As many of these snow birds are from Michigan, summer is also the perfect opportunity to return home and be near loved ones or lifelong friends. The new term for people who travel north for the summer is “sunbird”.

Compared to Florida, for example, the summer temperatures from June through August are much more comfortable in the metro Detroit area than Orlando. Michigan still enjoys long days, so driving in the dark may be avoided if your days are planned right!
Things To Do In Michigan In The Summer

All of our Independent Living communities are located near expressways, making it easy to get around to nearby events or venues.
The West Bloomfield location is a short drive away from scenic fishing spots, various small lakes, nature trails, and golf courses. Our Oak Park location is a short drive away from the Detroit Zoo, a variety of restaurants, and of golf courses. With over 650 public golf courses in Michigan, you could spend the whole summer trying to play them all!
Places To Visit:
- A few minutes from West Bloomfield you’ll find Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum, where you can take a stroll through mechanical history.
- A bit of a farther drive, but still an easy day trip, is Lake St. Clair where you’ll find beautiful beaches and picnic spots.
- To the south, you can enjoy a day at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation, which allows you to experience America’s greatest minds and immerse yourself in their stories.
- The Zekelman Holocaust Center is near the West Bloomfield community and will teach you about the Holocaust while inspiring a better future.
- For the art lovers, the good news is you don’t have to go all the way to Detroit for an Art Museum. The Cranbrook Art Museum in Bloomfield Hills showcases world-renowned architecture, sculpture, and nearly 6,000 pieces of art.
- Also not far, in nearby Royal Oak, is the Detroit Zoo, where you can spend hours watching your favorite wild animals.
