TIME, TALENT AND TREASURE

TIME, TALENT AND TREASURE

By Jo Strausz Rosen

We gratefully appreciate so many community volunteers who spend their time supporting JSL. I learned the phrase, “Time, Talent and Treasure” from Jim August, one of the 2023 8 Over 80 honorees, who not only led a distinguished career in advertising, public relations and marketing, but spent years volunteering his time and talent as President of the National Foundation of Jewish Culture and locally as a founder and first president of the Jewish Ensemble Theater. He didn’t stop there. Jim continued in service as an officer of the Federation Board, and on the board of Federation’s Alliance for Jewish Education, The Jewish Community Center, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, JVS (now Gesher), Men’s ORT, the Michigan Jewish Conference, ArtServe Michigan and as an active member at Congregation Shaarey Zedek and Congregation Beth Shalom. A sense of service and a sense of humor, we are grateful to Jim and to all the community leaders who devote their lives to Tikkun Olam.

Shabbat Shalom.
