Jewish Senior Life hosted a special ribbon-cutting celebration on October 6, highlighting the Brown Memory Care Pavilion at Fleischman Residence and its continued commitment to compassionate, personalized memory care. The event was held in partnership with the Novi Chamber of Commerce and Greater West Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce. The event began with a networking reception in the lobby of Fleischman Residence followed by a tour and ribbon cutting in the Brown Memory Care Pavilion.
Dennis Kraniak, Executive Director of Marketing & Sales, opened the event by discussing JSL’s nonprofit mission and its dedication to serving older adults and their families. Maurizio Palombi, Administrator of Fleischman Residence, followed by highlighting JSL’s commitment to providing compassionate care.
Following the speeches, guests were invited to tour the Pavilion, meet members of the Brown Memory Care team, and experience the new multi‑sensory room, where the ribbon cutting took place. The multi-sensory room is designed to provide comfort, engagement, and meaningful sensory experiences for individuals living with memory loss.
During the ribbon cutting, West Bloomfield Township Supervisor Jonathan Warshay marked the occasion by presenting a formal proclamation recognizing the Brown Memory Care Pavilion and JSL’s record of service to the community.
“The Brown Memory Care Center is a beautiful place,” Warshay said. “This space will serve residents and the community well, offering the care needed in a warm and welcoming environment.”
Community leaders shared personal reflections on the importance of memory care services.
“Family and friends have utilized the services at Fleischman Residence, and they were very well taken care of,” said Suzanne Levine, Executive Director of the Greater West Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce. “I recommend this place as the first place to stop and check out. I think they will look no further.”
“My dad had dementia, but at the time there were no facilities like this,” shared Katie Chuba, President and CEO of the Novi Chamber of Commerce. “We are happy that you chose to become a member and are spreading your wings into the community. It is exciting to see the additions and that you keep expanding services so residents can feel at home.”
“The Brown Memory Care Pavilion is warm, inclusive, and diverse, filled with people who truly love their community,” said Phyllis Canvasser, whose grandmother lived with Alzheimer’s and was a former resident at Brown.
“Fleischman is absolutely beautiful. They provide great care and wonderful intellectual programming,” added Julie Capra of Hospice of Michigan. Capra has volunteered with the art program for the past 4.5 years, while Hospice of Michigan has partnered with the agency for decades.
The opening of the Brown Memory Care Pavilion represents a meaningful step forward in supporting individuals living with memory loss and the families who care for them. By bringing together community partners, dedicated staff, and local leaders, Jewish Senior Life continues to strengthen its role as a trusted community resource committed to dignity, connection, and exceptional care for older adults.
