JSL Friends,

Nothing signals the arrival of summer quite like the bright, fresh colors of cherries & berries finally hitting our local produce sections. They are not only nature’s “candy” – sweet, juicy, & delicious- but they’re full of vitamins, fiber, and powerful antioxidants to keep your body functioning its very best!

Antioxidants Explained

What Foods Have Antioxidants

1. Bright colors — Foods that are deep red, blue, purple, orange, or
dark green (like berries, cherries, carrots, and spinach) usually have lots of antioxidants.
2.Whole foods — Fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, beans, and whole grains naturally contain antioxidants. Other plants like herbs, spices, teas, and cocoa are some of the richest sources.
3.Less processed — The closer a food is to its natural form, the more antioxidants it keeps.
